Description

Kud li šumiš svijetu reci da svoj narod Hrvat ljubi memorial and coat of arms in Trogir, Croatia. The words ‘Kud li šumiš svijetu reci da svoj narod Hrvat ljubi’ are a line from a poem which became the Croatian national anthem celebrating the beauty of Croatia and Croatians’ love of their country. The line translates to ‘whereever you hum, tell the world that a Croat loves his people’ and is related to the previous verse ‘Teci, Dravo, Savo, teci, Nit’ ti, Dunav, silu gubi ‘, telling the rivers Drava, Save, and Danube, which flow through Croatia, to ‘flow and not lose the force, and tell the world that a Croat loves his people’. The official anthem has since been changed to mention the Adriatic sea in addition to Dava and Sava, thus skipping the Danube.
